The Concert for Camp Hosted by YMCA Camp Timbers

YMCA Camp Timbers will host the 2nd annual Concert for Camp, a benefit concert supporting Camp Timbers programs. The event will include live music all day Saturday, August 25th starting at 12:00pm, outdoor activities like canoing, kayaking, rock climbing, disc golf, horseback riding and much more. Overnight camping accommodations are available and Sunday, August 26th at 12:00pm the 2nd annual Fall Classic 5K & Fun run will be help. More information can be found at www.ConcertForCamp.org.

Saginaw, MI, August 15, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Music and 5 K Run to support Saginaw YMCA Camp Timbers. The 2nd Annual Concert for Camp, 5K Fall Classic Run and Pancake Breakfast are scheduled for August 25 & August 26 at Camp Timbers located at 3269 Horseshoe Lake Rd., West Branch, MI. Music of all styles is scheduled. The 5K run is through the scenic forested area around the camp. Tent and RV Camping is available in addition to cedar cabins that are available for camping. Proceeds from the Concert and Run will support YMCA Camp Timbers fishing pier on Piper Lake. The pier will help in creating an outdoor program that teaches responsible, sustainable fishing to children. It will be open to the community during the off season and for the West Branch area series of youth fishing tournaments.

The 2006 Concert for Camp and Fall Classic Run raised $3,000 toward the pier program. The goal for 2007 is to raise the remaining $4,000 needed to complete the pier. Any extra proceeds will go into the Saginaw YMCA’s “Strong Kids Campaign” that provides financial assistance to hundreds of children with financial need, giving them the opportunity to attend summer resident camp. In 2006 approximately 18% of Camp Timbers campers attended camp through the Saginaw YMCA scholarship program.

The Concert’s live music will include rock; folk; country; acoustic; classical; jazz and hip-hop. Musicians around the state are donating their talent. The $10 entry fee is good for all day’s activities. Concert for Camp Marketplace will be open all day featuring local venders with a variety of items for purchase.

Join the 2nd Annual Fall Classic 5K Run on Sunday, Aug. 26 at Noon following the Pancake Breakfast at 10AM (runners eat for free!).

Registration forms are available at: Runners in Bay City and Mt. Pleasant locations; Good For You Health Foods located at 100 W. Midland St., Auburn and Camp Timbers in West Branch. $15 EARLY registration fee before Aug. 1st and $18 after Aug. 1st. $10 for Fun Run, a quarter mile run open to anyone.

Donor opportunities are still available for businesses and individuals. Levels range from “Cloud Nine” at $1,000 and “Friend of the Concert” for $100.
