Cosmetic Surgeon Unveils Innovative Infection Management Techniques for Breast Surgery

Dr. Jerome Edelstein to discuss new techniques in the management of infection in breast augmentation at international symposium.

Toronto, Canada, April 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Toronto Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Jerome Edelstein, will be participating in the 13th Annual Toronto Breast Surgery Symposium, presented by the University of Toronto. Invited as a Guest Speaker, Dr. Edelstein will be lecturing on the Management of Infection in Breast Augmentation.

“Although infections after breast augmentation are rare, I have been treating cases using this technique, which results in immediate salvage of the breast augmentation. This avoids having to remove the implant and the significant psychological trauma to the patient as they wait months for the implant to be re-inserted. I want to share my technique with my colleagues for the betterment of the field and improve patient care,” Dr. Edelstein, Primary Plastic Surgeon at Edelstein Cosmetic and Head of the Plastic Surgery Division at Humber River Regional Hospital states.

The event is organized by The Division of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery and The Continuing Medical Education Office at The University of Toronto. It explores current concepts and new innovations in breast surgery, both reconstructive and cosmetic, in a series of lectures, video presentations, discussions and question and answer sessions. Catering to practicing plastic surgeons, this year’s event takes place on April 25, 2013 from 08:00 at The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, located at 1 Harbour Square, Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Edelstein is scheduled to present in Session 4 – Aesthetic Breast Surgery, at 16:25 for a 15 minute presentation. Registration is open to board certified plastic surgeons.

The Toronto Breast Surgery Symposium is host to internationally-recognized plastic cosmetic surgeons. It is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by the University of Toronto. It is the first part of a two-day symposium endorsed by The American Society For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Canadian Society For Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgery.
