El Cajon College Announces First Graduating Class in New Medical Assistant Degree Program

Medical Assistant Students to Receive Degrees for First Time

Advanced Training Associates, a career training college in El Cajon, CA announced today the first graduating class in the school’s new degree program for professional medical assistants.

“We are extremely pleased to offer this advanced training,” said Advanced Training School Operations Director Valerie Phillips. “Our students are deeply dedicated to their careers and they are extremely happy about the more robust medical assisting training we now offer with our degree program.”

The school has offered a shorter medical assistant program since 2006. The new Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science Program is designed to be completed, with an associates degree, in just 14 months. Graduates who have completed the school’s medical assistant diploma program are welcome to return and can now earn an associates degree with and additional six months of training.

Two students who will graduate this month from the Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science program, Alan Cummings and Nate Lucas, are veterans of the United States Navy and are excited to enter the work force with this new training. Mr. Cummings is also a recipient of the Dean’s Award for academic excellence.

The graduate ceremony will be held this summer at the campus, details to follow. Family members and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.
