Twin Cities Public Television and Mackin Educational Resources Announce PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest Winners

As part of its commitment to encouraging literacy among young people, Mackin Educational Resources proudly supports activities which engage students in reading and writing. One of these activities was the recent Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest.

Burnsville, MN, May 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Mackin Educational Resources is pleased to congratulate the winners of the first annual Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. Twelve winning entries were selected from more than 600 stories and illustrations submitted by children in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, and are posted at www.tpt.org/writers. The winners include:

Kindergarten

Third Grade
1st place: Because of the Rain – Elizabeth R.
Story: The Climb – Alexandre C.
Illustration: Meryl’s Adventure – Eason J.
Teacher: Alecia Hageman, Foley Elementary

The winners were announced April 20 at a public celebration held at Union Station with more than 500 people in attendance. The festivities included live music from the Bazillions, an appearance by children’s author Chris Monroe, and storytelling by Beverly Cottman. In addition to honoring the 12 young people at the event, Mackin Educational Resources awarded the winning students’ teachers $125 gift certificates for books and other media offered on www.Mackin.com.
