Fertility Preservation Network Sponsors Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Teams

ReproTech, Ltd., a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissue (sperm, eggs, embryos and ovarian/testicular tissue), was a sponsor in recent Race for the Cure fundraisers to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

St. Paul, MN, May 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- ReproTech, Ltd., a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissue (sperm, eggs, embryos and ovarian and testicular tissue), was proud to sponsor its staff in the Twin Cities Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in Bloomington, MN on Mother’s Day. ReproTech’s Minnesota Site Director, Jill Olson, and family and friends participated in the event where 50,000 participants raised over $2.5 million to be donated to the fight against breast cancer. ReproTech will also sponsor Jill and her team in the upcoming Hartford/REMAXX Breast Cancer Ride starting in Rosemount, MN in August.

In April, ReproTech sponsored its team in Savannah, GA’s Race for the Cure 5K. ReproTech's Fertility Preservation Network Manager and family and friends participated in the event that brought out over 5,000 participants who raised over $400,000 in donations for breast cancer research. ReproTech plans to sponsor its first team in the Dallas, TX Race for the Cure scheduled later this year.

ReproTech regularly sponsors or contributes funds to cancer fundraising events in the areas where its employees and four regional facilities reside, Ft. Lauderdale/Coconut Creek, Florida; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Reno, Nevada; and Dallas, TX. Previous cancer fundraising events sponsored by ReproTech, Ltd. include various Race for the Cure and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) events, Lance Armstrong Foundation events and other local events benefitting cancer survivors and research. One such ongoing event is the Northern Nevada Lady Aces softball team’s Crush It For Cancer campaign, initiated by team member and daughter of ReproTech’s Nevada Site Director, Danika Batastini, to benefit the Northern Nevada Childrens’ Cancer Foundation. Each time team members bat this season, they contribute to the NNCCF donation jar. Donations from other teams and supporters are also being contributed.

For the 140,000 American men and women under age 45 who are newly diagnosed with cancer each year, chemotherapy and other treatments can affect their reproductive system and fertility. There is often a small window of time for these men and women to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important. Both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend the education of oncology patients about the options available to preserve their fertility.

ReproTech, Ltd. has organized the Fertility Preservation Network to educate oncology professionals and caretakers, as well as provide the much needed cryopreservation services for men and women. The network now includes members in 33 states and the Caribbean. Additionally, the work of fertileHOPE and LiveSTRONG has advanced the awareness of the need for Fertility Preservation among the oncology community.
