Campbell Global Network: a Day at the Office with Mom and Dad

They answered phone calls, sat in on meetings, met clients, and much more. Children of Campbell Global Network employees did all of the above and much more during a recent “At Work with Mom & Dad Day” activity.

London, United Kingdom, May 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- “This was a timely occasion for the children to spend a day at our offices and discover why education is very essential,” said Grant Boath, Account Manager, who assisted in organizing the day’s activities. “We showed them actual work activities that somehow gave them a better understanding of commerce and how it moves the world.” The day started with the children taking part in an orientation similar to those given to clients / new hires. An added highlight to their briefing is the importance of the different units of Campbell Global Network.

Anne Wilson, a scholar recipient of Campbell Global Network who is currently one of the senior CTAs, shared her struggles as a child. She also encouraged them to keep trying and to never give up on working being a better person each day. “Anne Wilson has a very inspiring story about conquering hurdles and roadblocks that life throws our way. It is a journey that would surely inspire and spark hope in the children that they are born for greatness, they just have to work hard at it,” Grant Boath continued.

Subsequent to the orientation and discussion, the children were separated into different groups based on age, and guided by chaperones to different units across the building. The activities were concentrated on having the children a real-feel of their parent’s work environment. Towards the afternoon, the children were united with their parent were they sat in on their parent’s regular work routine.

Other highlights included:
• Client sit downs were children got to “interview” prospective clients
• Immersion in IT developer and launch teams
• Observe in actual trading simulation

At Work with Mom and Dad Day is an annual corporate program for the past 7 years. The activity is intended to give children an opportunity to take a reprieve from school and go with their Mom or Dad to their place of work to see what their parent’s work is all about. “Through this program, children get to appreciate their parents more and promote a better understanding and respect for what their parents do,” concluded Grant Boath.
