Executive Women of New Jersey Pave Road to the Boardroom Board Readiness the Focus of June 4th Panel Discussion

Iselin, NJ, May 29, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Executive Women of New Jersey (”EWNJ”), the region’s leading not-for-profit organization promoting women’s executive leadership in the enterprise and corporate boards, today announced that it will host “The Road to the Boardroom,” a June 4, 2013 breakfast and panel discussion aimed at preparing executive women to serve on corporate boards.

Event panelists will share stories and insights from their personal experiences highlighting the qualities companies and boards are looking for when recruiting new board candidates. Additionally, the panelists will provide insight into the development efforts women should undertake to ensure board readiness. The distinguished panelists hail from diverse backgrounds nad industries and include:

· Nila Betof - Chief Operating Officer, The Leader's Edge, an international leadership development, executive coaching and consulting firm. Ms. Betof assists high-potential executive men and women in cultivating their leadership excellence so they can achieve success in top tiers of organizations.

· Cindy C. Burrell - President, Diversity in Board Room, a firm that consults with Corporate Boards and Advisory Boards with special focus on recruiting and referring diverse Director Candidates who enhance a company's growth, profitability, and social responsibility reputation. In addition, Ms. Burrell's firm creates new and often innovative Advisory Boards (or Councils) for private and public companies.

· Marty Coyne - Lead Director of Akamai Technologies, chairs the compensation committee and member of the audit committee. Mr. Coyne also serves on the board of RockTech, a privately held software company. He is author of the book, How to Manage Your Board While Your Board Manages You, Chairman and Founder of the CEO Learning Network, and CEO and Chairman of the NACD New Jersey Chapter.

· Eileen Scott - Member of the Board of Directors of Perdue Farms, Inc., Chair of the Audit Committee and former Chair of the Compensation Committee. Ms. Scott is also on the advisory committee of two woman-owned businesses. As former CEO of Pathmark Stores, Inc., Ms. Scott was one of only seven female CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.

The event will be moderated by Trish Oelrich, CPA, CISA, EWNJ Board Member, Board Director and Audit Committee Chair of PHI Holdings, Inc.

The program is part of a series of events and educational initiatives by EWNJ and its Board Appointment Committee to champion board diversity and expand the presence of women on corporate boards. Recently, EWNJ announced its acceptance into the membership of InterOrganizationNetwork (ION), a national organization, representing more than 10,000 women, that advocates for the advancement of women to board of directors and executive-level positions.

Additionally, EWNJ announced the launch of a study, which will examine representation of women on corporate boards. The study, underwritten and conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, will study the board composition of New Jersey public companies. Results will be presented at EWNJ’s Leadership Breakfast in November.
