Contribution of Kaushik Shandilya in the Spirit of Innovation Challenge

Houston, TX, May 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Kaushik Shandilya was a mentor and judge from the Spirit of Innovation Challenge by Conrad Foundation, which was supported by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. This is the second time that Dr. Shandilya served as mentor/judge for the competition, the first being in 2011, when his team entered the semi-finals. The competition honors the scientific achievements of high school students with prize money of 50,000 USD, in the areas of medicine, engineering, technology, and various sciences. Among the 1,500 students from 45 countries present this year, Dr. Shandilya was the judge or mentor for three separate teams of high school students; two of these teams won top places in the category of Energy and Environment and Health and Nutrition. Thanks to Dr. Shandilya, he helped students apply their problem-solving skills to the task they had to accomplish. Due to his dedication to these students and to his work in the field, Dr. Shandilya has received an invitation by Sigma Xi to serve as mentor and judge in the competition next year.
