Alpaca Owners to Participate in Estes Park Wool/Fiber Market

Estes Park, CO, May 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Members of the Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies (ABR) and the Alpaca Breeders Alliance of Northern Colorado (ABANC) will participate in the Estes Park Wool Market on Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9. The Wool Market, now in its 23rd year, is one of the largest all-natural fiber markets in North America and draws more than 10,000 spectators.

Alpaca activities will include an alpaca performance show and showmanship class; a fleece show (sponsored by ABANC) that is certified by the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA); a wide variety of alpaca products that are available for sale; demonstrations of how alpaca products are made; exhibit and information about raising alpacas and using their fleece; alpaca meet and greet; silent auction and more.

Other events included at the June 8-9 Wool Market are demonstrations of herding techniques used by sheep-herding canines; hands-on rope weaving, spinning and loom weaving in the Children’s Tent; demonstrations on shearing, fiber preparation, spinning and weaving; more than 50 booths filled with fleeces, raw fibers, novelty knitting and crocheting yarns as well as finished coats, scarves, hats, shawls, and fiber processing equipment; and June 6-7 pre-show workshops.

The Wool Market is held in Estes Park’s Fairgrounds at Stanley Park. The event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.
