Deborah R. Willig Named to Juvenile Law Center Board

Philadelphia labor and employment lawyer Deborah R. Willig, Esq. of Willig, Williams & Davidson has been named to the Board of Directors of Juvenile Law Center. Willig was elected to a three-year term by the board in May 2013.

Philadelphia, PA, May 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Juvenile Law Center is the oldest non-profit, public interest law firm for children in the United States. Founded in 1975 by graduates of Temple Law School in Philadelphia, Juvenile Law Center has become a national advocate for children’s rights, working across the country to enforce and promote the rights and well-being of children who come into contact with the justice, child welfare and other public systems. It was Juvenile Law Center that started the investigation of the kids for cash scandal in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania.

“As an attorney who strives to safeguard the rights of working people and their families, it is a natural extension of my professional life to be part of a remarkable institution that provides such incredible services to children,” said Willig. “Serving on the Board of this particular institution is doubly rewarding, since the Center’s founders, Bob Schwartz and Marsha Levick, were law school classmates and still close friends of mine. Juvenile Law Center is an exceptional organization that serves society's most vulnerable youth—those who are most likely to be ignored, harmed or scarred for life by systems that are supposed to help them. The Center has a nationwide reach and serves as a model to similar organizations throughout the nation. It is an honor to be asked to serve on this Board.”
