UofL to Offer Online Engineering Management Degree This Fall

Louisville, KY, June 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering will offer its engineering management degree fully online beginning in fall 2013. Now students from across the U.S. and abroad can earn a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management completely online, from the comfort of their home or office.

The 30-credit-hour master’s level degree in engineering management, which has been offered on campus since 1971, can now be earned exclusively online without attending on-campus classes. Speed School officials said the degree can usually be completed in two years and is designed for experienced professionals who want to move into managerial and operational positions.

“We expect a lot of national, and even international interest in this online degree,” said Tim Hardin, director of the engineering management online program. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for engineering professionals to acquire valuable skills and network with their peers from across the globe.”

Courses are delivered in an accelerated format (6-week terms) and focus on the business fundamentals of project management, finance, management, ethics and leadership principles. Entrance in the program requires that candidates have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related scientific area.

The program does not require that students take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or submit a thesis.

The Master’s in Engineering Management graduates typically work in, or are working toward a career in engineering management in various fields including Civil/construction, Health care, Logistics/distribution, Manufacturing, Computer and electronic product manufacturing, Pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing, Transportation equipment manufacturing, Biomedical, Aeronautical, Petro-Chemical or Military engineering, as well as Federal, state, and local government.
