Firearm Pistol, Shotgun and Rifle Courses in Connecticut: Permits and Advanced Courses

Classes are taught by Herb Furhman of HF LearnSafety Firearms Training Center. Mr. Furhman, who is a Connecticut Police Academy firearms and defensive weapons instructor is also a retired police officer. The training center is in New Milford, CT. Firearms, handcuffing, chemical spray, police baton training is conducted for security and police officers and firearms for citizens.

New Milford, CT, June 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- National Rifle Association Basic Pistol Safety Courses for Connecticut and New York state pistol permits are conducted several times monthly at 280 Kent Road New Milford, CT.

Classes are taught by Herb Furhman of HF LearnSafety Firearms & Security Officer Training Center. Mr. Furhman, who is a Connecticut Police Academy firearms and defensive weapons instructor is also a retired police officer. These 8 hour programs provide the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for using or owning a handgun. The course, which highlights safety and responsible ownership, instructionally educates anyone who may come in contact with a firearm. Successful completion of this national course is a basic requirement prior to applying for a state handgun permit in Connecticut, New York and most other states. A national written examination along with a live-fire range qualification is conducted at each program. A certificate is provided to each student upon successful completion.

The Connecticut Security "Guard Card" and "Blue Card" Armed Security Guard Employment Courses are held weekly. These one-day class are required pre-employment course for security guards in Connecticut. Both courses are approved by the CT State Police. These courses, through HF LearnSafety are 100% fee paid for qualifying veterans under the GI Bill and Department of Veterans Affairs.

The State of Utah Concealed Carry Firearms Permit course enables the permit holder to carry a concealed firearm in over 30 states. Classes are held monthly and on demand.. All documentation, including the FBI fingerprint card and instructor approved application will be provided upon class completion. This is a four hour one time course. A Connecticut or NY pistol license is not required to attend.

Personal Protection In The Home, focuses upon protecting yourself from a home invasion through use of reasonable and deadly force. Intensive defensive encounter firearm instruction and a presentation on criminal liability, state and federal laws and Castle Doctrine is reviewed. The class is done for individuals or small groups on demand.

Tactical Pistol Training, a 2to 3 hour advanced training tactical defense program is held on demand. Enhanced personal defense training using simulated and live-fire shooting drills will be taught using your own pistol and equipment.

Private Hourly Lessons are conducted daily for all levels of pistol, shotgun and rifle shooters. Personalized training includes advanced shooting techniques, firearm selection, cleaning carrying and storage.

The HR 218 Retired Law Enforcement Officer National Firearm Carry Certification qualification course under the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Improvements Act of 2010 (HR 218 S.1132) is conducted for qualifying retired officers. A wallet sized card is issued upon successful qualification. Retired law enforcement officers who qualify under this federal act must re-qualify annually. Mr. Furhman is a Connecticut Police Academy P.O.S.T. firearms instructor.

CT Police Academy P.O.S.T. Recertification and Initial Certification Credits:
We currently provide POST approved credits for Firearms (Handgun & Shotgun); Use of Force; Decision Shooting as required of sworn police officers. Mr. Furhman is a Connecticut Police Academy P.O.S.T. firearms instructor.In addition, Mr. Furhman is a Taser Instructor, handcuffing, o.c spray and baton instructor. These certifications are currently pending approval with POST. Police agency training officers may call Mr. Furhman for additional information.

American Red Cross Certification First Aid/CPR/AED Classes are available through HF LearnSafety for youth and adults, schools and companies. Classes are conducted with a single discipline or a combination of disciplines. Call for further information at 203-947-4327.
