MARG Charitable Foundation Raises $10,000 to Help the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome

Money raised at the April 6 gala fundraising dinner will go toward supporting NJCTS' myriad statewide family support and educational outreach programs.

West Long Branch, NJ, June 12, 2013 --( The Mid Atlantic Resource Group (MARG) Charitable Foundation termed its fifth annual gala fundraiser dinner a “resounding success” after it raised more than $45,000 to support the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome (NJCTS), CASA of Monmouth County and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.

The event, which took place April 6 at Branches in West Long Branch and entertained more than 150 people, was a tremendous boon to NJCTS – which received a $10,000 check from MARG President Scott Salinas, a longtime supporter of the organization and New Jersey’s Tourette Syndrome community.

“My personal physician – a dear friend and client – poured out his heart and soul to me regarding his son, who has Tourette Syndrome,” said Salinas, whose foundation has contributed more than $150,000 to supporting organizations such as NJCTS over the past several years. “I knew I had to help.”

MARG Charitable Foundation originated in 2009 and was founded by the management and staff of Mid Atlantic Resource Group, LLC, a full-service financial firm headquartered in Wall, N.J. The foundation was started as a way for Mid Atlantic Resource Group to give back to the community it serves. The essence of its mission is to help charities focused on helping ‘challenged’ children.

“We are honored that the Mid Atlantic Resource Group Charitable Foundation chose the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome as a beneficiary of its annual fundraising campaign,” NJCTS Executive Director Faith W. Rice said. “Their generous donation will go a long way toward helping our organization assist the 1 in 100 New Jersey children and families affected by Tourette Syndrome through our family support services, educational in-service programs and statewide advocacy and awareness efforts. We thank the foundation for their continued support of our organization.”

Tourette Syndrome is an inherited, misunderstood, misdiagnosed neurological disorder that is characterized by involuntary sounds and movements known as tics.
