London Kids Come Together to Launch the First Youth for Human Rights Club in London

On the 21st December 2005 the first Youth For Human Rights International club for London was formed. Gathered together were youths who have an interest in seeing that Human rights are made a fact not an idealistic dream. This is a landmark day in the implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This club’s intention is to help educate people who do not know about their Human Rights.

London, United Kingdom, December 22, 2005 --(PR.com)-- In a recent survey, 90% of those surveyed didn't know what their rights were. The 30 most important human rights are laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed in 1948 by 191 countries including Great Britain. These have been simplified and illustrated in a booklet called What are Human Rights? which was created by Youth for Human Rights International and sponsored by the Church of Scientology. The new group will be distributing booklets across London in shopping centres, on high streets and in their own schools.

To help get the message out, the London Human Rights Club also use a street-savvy 5-minute human rights music video called UNITED that has captured audiences young and old across the world. It tells the story of a young boy who is bullied in the playground and how his people from all backgrounds unite with him to end the discrimination.

UNITED was filmed and directed by talented filmmaker, Taron Lexton, then 19-years-old. It has now won six national and international film festival awards including the prestigious New York Independent International Grand Jury award for best Short Film, and has been screened to more than 40 million people.
