)-- Barbara C. Phillips, ARNP was inducted as Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) on Thursday, June 20, 2013 during the AANP national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ms. Phillips will continue the tradition of contributing to the mission of the AANP and promoting the role of the nurse practitioner. As the founder of NPBusiness she recognizes the critical importance of business education for nurse practitioners (NP) and the NP profession. Her company provides education, resources and support to entrepreneurial and employed NPs alike. She believes understanding the "Business of Healthcare" is critical to the future of nurse practitioners and the NP profession.
Recognized as a leader, innovator, business expert, social media guru and cutting edge online educator, she received the 2012 Washington State AANP Award for Excellence. Ms. Phillips speaks and consults nationally, internationally and is a published author.
A graduate of the University of Washington and Oregon Health Science University, she owns and operates Beachwater Health Associates in Olympia, WA, providing innovative, integrative and individualized pain management services.
The FAANP program was established in 2000 to recognize nurse practitioner leaders who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education, or policy. Priority initiatives of AANP are the development of leadership and mentorship programs for nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner students.
