University of Louisville Chooses FieldTurf Yet Again for Cardinal Football and Baseball

Louisville, KY, June 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- FieldTurf has been selected as the turf of choice for the University of Louisville football and baseball programs yet again after the Cardinals had been playing on their first FieldTurf field for a decade. The football and baseball programs will continue playing on the latest FieldTurf products for many years to come.

“We have had FieldTurf on our game fields for many years and can honestly say that FieldTurf is the highest performing turf system we have ever played on – both for football and baseball,” said University of Louisville Vice-President and Director of Athletics Tom Jurich. “The FieldTurf CoolPlay system offers a cooler playing surface to improve the safety of our players for football. Also, we feel the FieldTurf DoublePlay Classic baseball system plays more like a natural ballfield than anything else we have seen.”

“This has been an outstanding product for our football team over the years,” said Louisville head football coach Charlie Strong. “It’s a great surface for the players and they really enjoy competing on it each week. We installed a new turf this season and I am pleased with the design and the feel of the new surface.”

"FieldTurf has provided a top-level playing surface at Jim Patterson Stadium since the ballpark opened in 2005 and we couldn't be more excited about the latest resurfacing project for the future of our program," said Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell. "The FieldTurf surface has a proven track record for consistency, dependability and year-around accessibility and we're confident the new DoublePlay Classic system will display an even higher level of playability for our players."

“It’s always gratifying when a long-time customer like the University of Louisville expresses the desire to continue their relationship with our company and continue playing on our systems,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “Everyone at FieldTurf is completely committed to providing Cardinal athletics and their fans with the absolute best world-class surfaces in existence.”

Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium will have the innovative FieldTurf Revolution CoolPlay system installed. Combined with FieldTurf’s patented infill of cryogenic rubber and silica sand, this system features FieldTurf’s exclusive cork top dressing which allows the CoolPlay system to deliver the same behavior and overall stability as FieldTurf’s elite system fields found in the world’s most famous stadiums. CoolPlay was designed to reduce the heat without any reduction in performance.

FieldTurf’s safety, performance and durability levels have proven to be ideal for the sport of football with over 100 D-1 schools playing and/or practicing on FieldTurf. Louisville is part of four schools in the Big East playing their home games on FieldTurf, with the likes of Cincinnati, Rutgers, and Syracuse.

Jim Patterson Stadium will have the baseball-specific DoublePlay Classic system installed which has been carefully designed to emulate the very best natural grass ballfields through proper ball bounce, ball pace, and player-friendly playability.

FieldTurf is changing the way the baseball community perceives artificial turf – with its specialized DoublePlay turf systems driving surface innovation throughout every level of baseball. The Cardinals join an impressive list of over 25 NCAA Division 1 teams that play and/or practice on FieldTurf DoublePlay baseball turf systems.
