Summer Supper Series Offers Good Food and a Place to be Cool
This year, folks enjoying the Summer Supper series at Niantic Community Church will have a special treat they may not be accustomed to. In the past, a warm welcome was given, but so were the toasty temperatures in the dining hall. This is the first year that folks will enjoy that ever present warm welcome in an environment that is cool and comfortable due to a new central air conditioning system installed in the spring.
Niantic, CT, June 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- For the past 47 years, NCC has welcomed locals, tourists and summer folks for simply good food and old fashioned fellowship. The season kicks off with a Summer Breakfast on Saturday, July 6 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. giving vendors and visitors of the Lions Annual Lobsterfest and Art Show, a great way to start their day. A sweet and savory menu of scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, fruit salad and beverage costs only $8 for adults and $4 for children with take-out available.
Another special treat is on July 16, when Maine native Sonya Hoisington puts together her infamous Lobster Stew. Thick with succulent meat fresh off the lobster boats from Maine, it’s a must have together with salad and homemade desserts. For those who don’t care for the crusty crustacean, Corn Chowder and hot dogs are a tasty alternative. The Maine Lobster Stew Dinner is 5:30-7:30 p.m. with continuous seatings and tickets are $20 for Lobster, $10 for Corn Chowder and $5 for the hot dog meal. As popular as a hearty breakfast and Lobster Stew might be, to many shoreline loving folks, it’s the traditional Roast Beef and Turkey Dinner that is a summer favorite. This year it is held Tuesday, August 6 with two seatings served family style at 5:30 and 6:30. Mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, beans, coleslaw and homemade desserts will satisfy the heartiest appetite for $9/adults and $4 children 12 and under. No reservations are needed and take-out is always available.
