Xtreme Race Takes Over Sun ‘N Fun, Changes Obstacle Racing Forever Nationwide Xtreme Obstacle Challenge Launches First Event in Lakeland This Saturday

Lakeland, FL, June 29, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Xtreme Obstacle Challenge, a ridiculously fun urban race with more than 25 obstacles, launches its nationwide series this Saturday, June 29th. Teams, individuals and costumed athletes take on the mud-free obstacles with several crazy big challenges creating many laughable moments at non-profit Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland.

"You can find a mud pit in any field, but Xtreme offers a new tough- but fun- racing experience," Xtreme founder Fred Sommer said. “Our obstacles offer racers a new challenge and a lot of laughs.”

Participants make their way over, under, around and through obstacles like the Matrix, Cubic Conundrum, Barrel Roll and even more crazy obstacles alongside animated announcers, live music and photo worthy airplanes. After traveling three miles racers finally meet Dizzy Lizzy, a huge rotating turntable ready to take them for a ride before they can finally cross the finish line.

Athletes of all levels cross the finish line to receive a custom medal and follow the sounds of live entertainment and the smell of good food and cold beer to an epic after party.

Competitive racers can sign up for the 8:00 a.m. competitive wave for their chance to take home a cut of the $2,500 prize purse. Prizes are awarded for the craziest individual costume, best team costume and for the largest team assembled.

Online registration at XtremeObstacleChallenge.com closes midnight Thursday and race day registration is available at Sun ‘n Fun. All the fun will be posted to Facebook.com/XtremeObstacleChallenge.
