Prudential Americana Group Gives 30,000 Bottles of Water to Las Vegas Rescue Mission

Las Vegas, NV, July 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- For Las Vegas’ homeless population, extreme heat can be life threatening. One local real estate company is making a difference during the city’s hottest time of year. Prudential Americana Group, REALTORs put its connections to work recently and donated more than 30,000 bottles of water to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

“We regularly support the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and when we saw how the heat affected those that utilize their facility, we wanted to help,” said Mark Stark, CEO of Prudential Americana Group, REALTORs. “We made it into a fun contest to see which of our offices in Southern Nevada could donate the most water for the mission and they really showed how generous they are. Our office on West Sahara donated 8,370 bottles alone, more than any Prudential office in the valley. And our Northwest office donated an average of 60 bottles per person!” Overall, the company collected 1,177 cases with a total of 30,684 bottles of water.

“All summer long the Las Vegas Rescue Mission tries to do all we can to help those in greatest need – providing a cool place to sleep or get a meal, but also provide cold drinking water for the homeless who have little break from the heat,” said John Fogal, director of development at Las Vegas Rescue Mission. “Prudential’s donation of over 30,000 bottles of water helps us serve so many throughout the summer – we cannot do all that we do each day without this kind of generosity.”

Prudential Americana Group’s 1,100 real estate sales executives and staff gave an average of 35 bottles per person company-wide. Through the company’s partnership with national non-profit Move For Hunger and local moving company Red Carpet Movers, the water was delivered by the truckload to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

“Move For Hunger is an organization that helps people who are moving donate their non-perishable food to local pantries so it is a perfect fit for our clients,” said Stark. “Red Carpet Movers is also a national partner and both picks up and delivers the food, making it very easy for homeowners to donate.” In September the three organizations partnered to donate more than two tons of food to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

Las Vegas recorded the hottest June on record this year, and July is seeing more of the same with nearly every day so far over 100 degrees. “In heat like this, staying hydrated is crucial to staying healthy,” said Stark. “We are big supporters of the Mission’s programs and hope the donation helps make that one aspect of their services a little easier this summer. When we were there delivering the water, we were in awe of how many people came out to help unload it from the trucks, even though it was 115 degrees out that day.”

“The local Las Vegas community makes it possible for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission to provide basic help to the homeless and hurting of our city,” said Fogal. “We are so proud of our growing partnership with Prudential. Through generous food and water drives, active volunteerism and loyal support, Prudential is making a big difference in our community.”
