Oncore Supports Cancer Council NSW

With rising cancer statistics across Australia, Oncore has chosen to put its support behind the Cancer Council NSW by taking part in the upcoming Sydney City2Surf run.

Sydney, Australia, July 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Latest data from the Cancer Council Australia reinforces that cancer is the leading cause of death in Australia, with more than 43,700 people estimated to have died from cancer in 2011.

Cancer accounts for about three in 10 deaths in Australia, with one in two Australian men and one in three Australian women being diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.

Oncore’s General Manager for Australia, Michael Taylor, agrees cancer has affected everyone at some time.

“Whether it is someone in your family, a friend or someone at work, we’ve all been touched by cancer. Oncore has decided to do our bit as a company to help fight this disease, with a number of staff running in the Sydney City2Surf to fundraise for the Cancer Council.

“We want to raise $5,000 to help support the estimated 124,910 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.”

While survival rates of cancer sufferers are improving, with more than 60 per cent of people diagnosed surviving more than five years after diagnosis, the team at Oncore is looking forward to contributing to this important cause.

“We’re a people-focused company, delivering contractor payroll services to our clients on a daily basis. We see this fundraising as simply an extension of our efforts to assist our clients every day and in their everyday lives,” says Mr Taylor.

Anyone interested in supporting Oncore’s fight against cancer can donate via the City2Surf website.
