Southern Season Welcomes Jeni Britton Bauer to Host an Ice Cream Centric Weekend July 20, 21

Landmark Gourmet Food and Gifts Store to Crown Ice Cream Champion During July 20.

Chapel Hill, NC, July 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Southern Season (http://www.southernseason.com), the South’s premier destination for local and international fine food, wine, specialty gifts, cookware and cooking classes, has announced that the store will host the finale of its inaugural Ice Cream Recipe Contest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, as well as an ice cream social on Saturday and Sunday, July 21 at 201 S. Estes Drive. During the contest, the top three entries will be served up, to be judged by nationally renowned ice cream connoisseur Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. The grand prize winner will receive Southern Season’s Ultimate Ice Cream Gift Basket, a stainless steel Cuisinart ice cream maker, and a signed copy of Bauer’s Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home. The ice cream socials will offer buy one scoop, get one scoop free along with free kid-friendly activities including face painting, balloon animals and sing-alongs.

Saturday, July 20
- All Day: Ice Cream Social (buy a scoop, get a scoop free)
- 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.: $4 PB&J Pancakes at the Weathervane (kids under 6 eat free with an adult purchase)
- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Make-your-own trail mix
- 10 a.m. – noon: Free face painting
- 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Free balloon animals
- 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.: Sing-alongs and book readings
- Noon – 2 p.m.: Book signing: Jeni Britton Bauer
- Noon – 5 p.m.: “twenty degrees” chocolate demo
- 2 p.m.: Ice Cream Recipe Contest judging

Sunday, July 21
- All Day: Ice Cream Social (buy a scoop, get a scoop free!)
- Noon – 3 p.m.: Free balloon animals
- Noon – 3 p.m.: Free face painting
- 2 p.m.: Book reading
