Dr. Julie Prutsman with Sound Relief Hearing Center Goes Over the Edge, Raises $5,000 for Cancer League of Colorado

Cancer League of Colorado’s Fifth Annual Over the Edge Event Raises More Than $190,000 and Counting for Cancer Research and Support Services.

Centennial, CO, July 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Julie Prutsman of Sound Relief Hearing Center, Colorado’s premier provider of hearing and tinnitus services, rappelled over the edge of a Denver skyscraper and raised $5,000 for Cancer League of Colorado. This was the second year in a row for the South Metro audiology practice to support Over the Edge, an event hosted by Cancer League that offers participants the unique and adrenalin-pumping opportunity to rappel for a cause.

Dr. Julie was particularly impassioned to support the cause this year after losing her mother-in-law Patricia Prutsman to cancer in February. After battling small cell lung cancer in 2006, Patricia had by all accounts beaten cancer into submission. Then in November 2011, the cancer had metastasized to her brain. Undaunted, she went all in for round two of cancer treatment and fought with all her heart, unfortunately she was unable to make a full recovery.

“This year I am especially mindful of how cruel and devastating cancer really is,” said Dr. Julie. “I learned from my mother-in-law that the human will can be powerful and awe inspiring, but cancer never gives up, and you and your loved ones will never truly be safe until we have a cure.”

Sound Relief Hearing Center was one of 30 corporate sponsors supporting the event. Dr. Julie was one of 110 adventurous donors who rappelled down 28-stories of one of Denver’s most prominent skyscrapers, 1600 Glenarm Place Luxury Apartments, on July 12 and 13. Dr. Julie’s team for the event, “Danielle’s Dudes and Divas,” raised more than $8,000 and was one of the top four fundraising teams. Also on her team were this year’s Over the Edge event chairs Sheri and Jason Kaiser of Highlands Ranch, Renee Varin Potratz of Highlands Ranch and Chance Scott of Denver.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors, individuals and organizations who support Over the Edge,” stated Gary Reece, Cancer League president. “With their passionate commitment and high energy attitude, the race to finding a cure for cancer has definitely reached greater heights.”

The net amount directly raised from this event is $190,000 and counting as of July 24, 2013. All of the funds raised will be applied to cancer research and support services for cancer-stricken Colorado families.
