Los Angeles Association of Health Underwriters Hosts Healthcare Reform Certification® Course

Los Angeles, CA, July 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Los Angeles Association of Health Underwriters (LAAHU) took a big step towards making their organization and their members leaders in the healthcare reform space by hosting a live one day healthcare reform certification and training course for the Los Angeles area.

Dierdre Kennedy-Simington, LPRT, President of the LAHUU, said, “Health Insurance Agents are on the front line, and are the trusted resource for Employers and HR professionals. It was critical for our organization to have our members receive the most comprehensive and current training on healthcare reform because of their critical role with employers. The healthcare reform certification has been a great success, and the ability for our members to receive live interactive instruction from the top national experts in healthcare reform was the best part. Healthcare Reform is here to stay, and health insurance agents need to have advanced knowledge of PPACA, there is no margin for error. The ongoing Continuing Education credits required by the program show employers and consumers that our members who have become certified are updated and informed.”

LAHHU members who passed the certification will add to their business cards and credentials the designation seal of being a Certified Healthcare Reform Specialist® and will be able to distinguish themselves amongst other agents and insurance professionals.

The CHRS program is a comprehensive course, approved nationally for continuing education, and designed to educate the students about the effects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) on employer health plans. Topics covered today included some of the following:

· What will come into effect in the future
· State, Federal, and Private Exchanges
· The Employer Mandate
· PPACA’s Effects on Employer-Sponsored
· Taxes as a result of PPACA
· Healthcare Reform and Wellness
· How to discuss healthcare reform with employees
· Compliance Issues, Mandates and Deadlines
· California Health Exchange

“The Healthcare Reform Certification® and Designation course sets the standard for the Los Angeles area, it is the minimum standard that individuals and employers should look to when working with a health insurance agent or consultant,” said Jonathan Edelheit, President of the Healthcare Reform Center & Policy Institute. “Anyone can say they are knowledgeable or an expert. Healthcare Reform Certification sets a standard in that level of knowledge.”

Edelheit added, “Those who took certification today are leading the trail of a new essential element in understanding and advising.”

The CHRS Designation is offered in conjunction with the Health Care Reform Center and Policy Institute (HCRPI) and the Healthcare Reform Magazine. National healthcare reform experts and leaders developed the specialist designation and certification over the past several years. The certification can be taken online, or at the National Healthcare Reform Conference®, part of the Employer Healthcare & Benefits Congress and the National Health Insurance Exchange Conference, November 3-6, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada, www.HealthcareReformConference.com, www.EmployerHealthcareCongress.com or through onsite training and live webcasting.
