Cary Dairy Queen Hosts Children’s Organ Transplant Association Event in Honor of Lucas Santos

Now 19, Santos was diagnosed at age 13 with congenital heart disease, which required him to receive a heart transplant in order to survive. The COTA fundraiser, which was held on June 30, was a tremendous success and raised funds to help the families of future transplant patients pay for the cost of surgery.
COTA is a national nonprofit organization that aims to assist children and young adults who require a life-saving organ, bone marrow, cord blood or stem cell transplant by raising funds to pay transplant-related expenses.
