The 15th World Golden Oldies Netball Festival Comes to San Diego, CA

San Diego, CA, July 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Celebrating its 30th birthday, the Golden Oldies Netball Festival will host their 15th bi-Annual World event October 6-13, 2013 at the prestigious San Diego Polo Fields, San Diego, CA. Over 60 international teams, traveling from as far as New Zealand, will be welcomed at a private event hosted at San Diego’s world renowned Sea World. Players will participate in weeklong festivities in California's second largest city, boasting a citywide population of nearly 1.3 million residents, more than 3 million residents’ countywide and world-renowned attractions including Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo.

The 15th bi-Annual Golden Oldies World Netball Festival is a collaborative effort through Netball America, San Diego United Netball Club, and the San Diego Sports Commission, in partnership with Vintage Sports and Leisure (VSL) Events. “We are all very excited to be heading to San Diego in October, just the second time in the Festival’s history that it will venture outside the Pacific Rim,” said Christine Augusto of VSL, ”the strength of the Golden Oldies Netball Festivals has been the Pacific nations but the 30 year celebration is a chance to venture further afield to offer new experiences for regular participants and also to introduce new countries and netballers. Golden Oldies are about the ethos of ‘Fun, Friendship and Fraternity,’ which I am sure we will all enjoy in San Diego.”

Netball America, the largest Netball organization in the USA, is proud to be a part of this event. “Netball America is celebrating its 5 year anniversary this year and our members, located in 28 states, are excited to host this internationally recognized Festival to help increase awareness of USA Netball. This Festival highlights that Netball is a team sport that can be played at any age. All these athletes are over 35 years old and still love playing the sport,” said Sonya Ottaway, President of Netball America.

The Golden Oldies World Netball Festival invites Netball teams to register by August 31. Also, participants are invited to a welcome reception at the Australian Consul General Residence in Los Angeles on Sunday September 29th. Admission to the Golden Oldies World Netball Festival is free to spectators.
