New GreaterGood Signature Program Proclaims "Cats R Cool"

GreaterGood.org launches a new signature program, Cats R Cool, this month to help shelters and rescue groups increase cat adoptions. The program will be formally introduced by Jackson Galaxy on August 10.

Seattle, WA, August 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- GreaterGood.org launches a new signature program this month to help shelters and rescue groups increase cat adoptions.

Partnering with The Animal Rescue Site, Petfinder Foundation, and Jackson Galaxy, cat behaviorist and star of Animal Planet’s “My Cat From Hell,” the new Cats R Cool program will help educate animal shelters and volunteers about working with cats in shelter and foster environments.

The program will be unveiled to the public and invited Northwest shelters during Seattle Humane Society’s Catapalooza on August 10, 2013.

Galaxy is attending the Catapalooza event as a part of his Cats Uncaged tour His presentation will focus on what he calls “Cat Mojo” – the ability to recognize the inner drive and needs of cats to stave off boredom and anxiety while they wait for their forever homes.

GreaterGood.org Executive Director Elizabeth Baker will present more information about the Cats R Cool program and how rescue groups and shelters can apply for related grants.

Seattle Humane Society’s Catapalooza will be held August 10 and 11 at 13212 SE Eastgate Way,
Bellevue, WA 98005. Hundreds of adoptable cats and kittens will be available during the weekend. The first 125 cat adopters at the event will receive an adoption bag with grooming supplies, cat toys, cat treats, and more courtesy of Cats R Cool. Products and coupons have been donated by John Paul Pet, Pioneer Pet, Nature Vet, NekoFlies, Halo, FreeKibble.com, and The Animal Rescue Site.

John Paul Pets also is donating products to local shelters and rescue groups attending the Cats R Cool introduction on August 10. Halo and FreeKibble.com will give 5,000 meals for cats at Seattle Humane Society and NekoFlies also will be donating cat toys to the Seattle Humane Society.

Approximately twenty Puget Sound shelters and rescue groups have registered for the workshop.

Galaxy will speak on “Cat Mojo” at 11 a.m. on August 10.

Cats R Cool

TV host and bestselling author Jackson Galaxy, who began his career working in an animal shelter, is partnering with GreaterGood.org, The Animal Rescue Site, and Petfinder Foundation to develop and teach a series of Cats R Cool workshops. Shelter staff and volunteers attending these workshops will learn how to:

· Identify signs of stress in felines.
· Take proactive measures to prevent these signs of stress from developing in the first place.
· Increase adoptions by showing potential adopters what a great “product” cats are.
· Enrich cat and kitten behavior by enriching their environment.
