Founded in 2011 by author and musician Richard La Plante, Escargot Books and Music represents celebrity authors such as Andrew Loog Oldman, record producer and manager of The Rolling Stones from 1963 to 1967, Terence Stamp, Academy Award nominated actor and author in his own right, who has recently starred in the independent film Unfinished Song, and Peter Mayle, the bestselling British author, as well as other outstanding authors.

Escargot Books and Music is expanding their fiction catalogue with book lines in crime fiction, SciFi-fantasy, Women's fiction and YA/childrens and they are currently open to submissions. In addition, La Plante’s creation of what has become known as an Ear Movie, a 21st century radio play with accompanying songs and soundtracks, is part of the expansion. With his background in music and his desire to create a publishing company to include the Ear Movie, La Plante taps into the talent of his friends and acquaintances such as Grammy award-winning record producer Greg Penny and his complete musical family, and actor Terence Stamp. According to La Plante, “Basically, we have our own theatrical/musical production team at Escargot.” The first professional Ear Movie is a production of Hog Fever, one of La Plante’s published books; a black comedy with Terence Stamp acting the part of the psychiatrist.
