Commack’s Sal Ferro to Put on the Gloves for Fight for Charity

Commack, NY, August 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Sal “The Hammer” Ferro, resident of Commack and President & CEO of Alure Home Improvements, the major sponsor of the 10th Long Island Fight for Charity scheduled for Monday, November 25th at the Long Island Hilton in Melville, has been selected as one of the boxers who will participate in the “main event.” Fight for Charity, an action-packed and highly anticipated event, is one of the Island’s leading charity fund raising and networking events. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend, and over $200,000 is projected to be raised to support members of the community through The Long Island Community Chest.

Sal Ferro is considered by his peers and members of the business community as a leader who has tremendous energy, a big heart, and is a major contributor to the local community, supporting numerous charities and local families in need, including the overseeing of eight renovations for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He will join with 20 or more of Long Island’s brightest and toughest business professionals to go head-to-head in the ring in November. The card for the evening will include more than 10 bouts, pitting local business professionals against each other for charity.

“Since the recent announcement reception at the Chateau Briand when it was revealed that I have volunteered to be a Fight for Charity boxer, I’ve been even more committed to train and put gloves on for this worthy cause. This will be a challenge that I will meet head on. I am confident that my plan to train and raise money will be successful. This will be a memorable experience I will share with others and remember for the rest of my life, and I’m also looking forward to shedding a few pounds during training,” Ferro said.

“Sal’s involvement with the event will bring added energy and excitement. We welcome him and the support of his company Alure Home Improvements our event sponsor. When we started the Fight for Charity, we anticipated it becoming an event that people would look forward to each year. Our events have been successful because of the dedication of the boxers, the hard working volunteers and the sponsors such as Alure Home Improvements. Today more than ever before, we need to raise money and support members of our community who need assistance. The Long Island Community Chest is one of the charities that will help us achieve this goal,” said Jamie Austin, Long Island’s Fight for Charity Co-Founder.

Tickets for the event are available on-line. Ringside seats are $195, premium seats are $125 and both include admission to a pre-event special networking and cocktail reception. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a V.I.P. reception. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the boxing will begin at 6:30 p.m. More than 20 local restaurants will provide delicious food and beverages for the event.

Fight for Charity’s mission is to raise money directly to help neighbors and local charities including the Long Island Community Chest, the Genesis School and the National Foundation for Human Potential. To support and donate to Sal, please visit http://conta.cc/10NvZ8T.
