Triangle Kroger Associates and Customers Donate More Than $15,500 to Local Food Bank

Local Grocer Aids in the Fight Against Hunger in the Annual Bringing Hope to the TableĀ® Campaign.

Raleigh, NC, August 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), (http://www.kroger.com/), the nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer with 14 stores throughout the Triangle, has announced that the Triangle-area customers and Kroger associates have raised more than $15,500 as a part of the Bringing Hope to the Table® campaign, which benefits Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization. Bringing Hope to the Table is an annual ongoing effort by Kroger to provide assistance to hungry families in the communities in which the retailer serves. On Aug. 6, Shannon Toth, district manager for the mid-Atlantic region of Kroger, presented a check to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina's Ashley Delamar, vice president of development and Bridget McMinn corporate and foundation relations manager for $15,541.78 which was raised in the campaign. This donation will provide more than 77,700 meals to those in need across the state.

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina for 30 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington.

Last year, Kroger associates and customers across the country donated the equivalent of 200 million meals through local food banks, including much-needed items such as fresh meat, dairy items, fruits, vegetables and bakery products that allow food banks to provide quality food to local families. This year, Kroger will donate a total of $3 million in cash to food banks across the country.
