Ultra Marathon Stand Up Paddler, Will Schmidt, Attempts World Record for Depression Awareness

Ultra Marathon Stand Up paddler, Will Schmidt, will attempt world record breaking open ocean stand up paddle trip through the California Channel Islands.

Laguna Niguel, CA, August 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Ultra-marathon Stand Up Paddler and Southern California Lifestyle Athlete Will Schmidt has scheduled a solo open ocean stand up paddle challenge that will launch from Oxnard, CA through all eight Channel Islands, and landing in Dana Point Harbor. This attempt will be the first of its kind. Escorted by the Campbell Sloop, a Dana Point Harbor sailboat, Schmidt will negotiate roughly 320 nautical miles of open water on the journey starting September 13th, 2013. Proceeds from "Stand Up Paddle Against Depression: The Journey Continues" will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project to aid in anxiety, depression, and PTSD research as well as Casa Hogar Orphanage in Mexico.
