)-- J. Gordon Wright, MD, founder and medical director of the Midwest Vein Center (MVC) has been appointed by Diomed, Inc. to train physicians from across the United States on the use of minimally invasive laser treatments for varicose veins.
Dr. Wright specializes exclusively in the treatment of vein disease and has treated over 1400 patients using Diomeds’ EVLT®. Approximately twelve physicians will join Dr. Wright for a three day training fellowship on endovenous laser treatment in mid September. The EVLT by Diomed will be showcased and used exclusively for the training program.
“I am honored to train physicians on breakthrough technologies that continue to make healthcare safer, less invasive and more effective,” said Dr. Wright. “As a physician, it’s rewarding to see so many patients benefit from EVLT. In my practice, the recurrence rate with laser treatment is less than ½ % compared to 5% quoted in the medical literature.”
Dr. Wright has been treating patients with vein problems for 25 years, since earning his medical degree from Loyola University Medical Center in 1981. After his fellowship in Vascular Surgery, he started The Ohio State University Vein Clinic and trained numerous fellows, residents and other health professionals in vascular surgery, general surgery and vein disease. His lectures and papers number in the hundreds and he has been an active participant, committee chairman, or officer of several important medical societies including the Chicago Endovascular Surgery Society.
The Midwest Vein Center is committed to the non-surgical treatment of vein disease and related disorders. With 3 locations near Chicago, MVC is a trusted name when it comes to vein clinics throughout the Midwest. In fact, it is one of just a few vein practices in which all physicians have undergone an extensive fellowship training in phlebology. As a result, MVC’s success rates are higher than the national success rates of vein care statistics Worldwide. Experience and use of the latest technology, make MVC unique in its approach to vein care.
