Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Welcomes Its 1.5 Millionth Guest Through the Port of Dover

Ipswich, United Kingdom, September 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines welcomed its 1.5 millionth guest to pass through the Port of Dover on 14th August 2013. Pam Allen, with her husband John, was boarding Fred. Olsen's 929-guest ship, Braemar, for a nine-night around the UK and Ireland ‘Celtic Experience’ cruise. Fred. Olsen and the Port of Dover celebrated this significant milestone by presenting Mr. and Mrs. Allen, from Wolverhampton, with a bottle of Champagne and framed photograph of Braemar and a print of Dover Harbour, along with a commemorative Fred. Olsen book.

Clare Newman, Manager of Business Delivery Manager at the Port of Dover, said:

"We are delighted to celebrate Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' 1.5 millionth embarking guest, and congratulations to Mrs. Allen! Fred. Olsen's first call to Dover Cruise Terminal 1 was with the Black Prince on 18th January 1996, and the combined total of embarking, disembarking and transit guests for Fred. Olsen is just over 1.9 million, which is a tremendous achievement."

From 2010 until the end of 2014, Fred. Olsen will have completed a total of 140 turnaround calls at the Port of Dover.

Rachael Jackson, Public Relations Manager for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“We have a very successful partnership with the Port of Dover. The Cruise Terminal offers our guests excellent facilities, with fast and efficient check-in desks, and a spacious departure area, with plenty of seating.

"We are committed to providing our guests with convenient regional departures, and the Port of Dover is a very popular choice for Southern sailings; we are sure that this will continue to be the case for many years to come."

Fred. Olsen offers cruises from Dover to a wide range of destinations, including, the Canary Islands and Azores, the Norwegian fjords and the North Cape, the Eastern Mediterranean ports of Corfu, Malta and Morocco, as well as the Western Mediterranean delights of Toulon, Ajaccio, Lisbon, Seville, Barcelona and Naples.

In 2014/15, Fred. Olsen will offer 14 departures from Dover, including a 13-night M1422 ‘Canaries Meteor Showers’ cruise on Braemar, departing on 4th August 2014, and a seven-night Braemar M1424 ‘French River’ cruise, setting sail on 24th August 2014.
