5K Held to Benefit Free Wheelchair Mission

Entire community comes out in support of Free Wheelchair Mission.

Wheeling, WV, September 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On July 20, 2013, residents of Wheeling, West Virginia and the surrounding region came out to support the Run, Walk and Roll 5K and Kid’s Fun Run. Coordinators of the event and Ambassadors for Free Wheelchair Mission, Chuck and Suzy Miller, long time supporters of the organization, have grown each race since its start in 2008. Despite the rain, the sixth annual event yielded some 330 runners – the highest number yet, 80 volunteers and raised over $13,700 to provide 192 wheelchairs for individuals with physical disabilities in the developing world through Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM). With money raised from sponsorships, 100% of registration money went to fund wheelchairs.

Throughout the day spectators were introduced to Free Wheelchair Mission and the work they do around the world providing wheelchairs at no cost and regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or gender to persons with disabilities living in poverty in developing countries.

Since 2008, the Miller’s have helped to raise approximately 800 wheelchairs for FWM. Plans for the 2014 event are already underway; visit www.runwalkandroll.net to learn more. An Ambassador for FWM promotes the gift of mobility by raising awareness and support for the organization.
