Holiday Caravan Parade Announces Performance Policy Changes, Dinner Dance and Deadline for Queen Applications

Salisbury, NC, September 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Holiday Caravan Parade Board of Directors announced today that it has modified its long-stand policy that prevented dance groups and bands from stopping or slowing the procession with performances. Effective with the 2013 parade, performances lasting no more than 90 seconds will be permitted in front of the judging area in Spencer and at the reserved seating area in Salisbury.

The Board also announced a change to the procedure for crowning of Miss Holiday Caravan. A dinner dance will be held at the F & M Trolley Barn in Salisbury on Saturday, October 26 where the 2013 queen will be crowned. This dinner is also a fundraiser for the non-profit parade. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. with the crowing to occur approximately 8:00 p.m. and the dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. Dinner tickets are $25 for a couple and $15 for individuals, and are only available only by advance reservation. Admission for the dance only is available at the door for $5. Business casual attire is suggested.

The Holiday Caravan Parade is now accepting applications for Miss Holiday Caravan. The submittal deadline is Friday, September 27. The selection process includes review of answers provided by the applicant’s questionnaire and a popular vote via the Holiday Caravan website and social networking sites.

Also new this year is the addition of scholarships for two runner-ups as well the winner. The Miss Holiday Caravan Queen has her choice of a $750 Educational Scholarship or $750 Donation to any non-profit charitable organization. The first runner-up will receive $500 and the second runner-up will get $250.

Described as the Carolinas’ Loveliest and Liveliest parade, 2013 marks the 54th annual Holiday Caravan Parade. Food Lion is returning as the presenting sponsor, however many other sponsorship and parade entry opportunities are available. Many local businesses choose to purchase professionally designed and decorated floats at the annual sale, which occurs October 19, 2013 at the Rowan County Rescue Squad.
