3Defy does not provide the printing services directly. Rather, the 3Defy software has been extended to enable "exports" which are compatible with 3D printers and online services like Shapeways and Sculpteo. 3Defy has long offered 2D to 3D conversion software, but previous results could only be viewed in stereoscopic 3D. Now that 3D printers have advanced to the point of detailed full-color physical models, users can actually hold their creations in the palm of their hands.

"This new artform is truly stunning, and represents something unique and previously unforseen in both the technology and art worlds," says the company's Founder Chris Wallace. "We believe that 3Defy offers the most realistic 2D to 3D conversion available, and our latest software version provides many new capabilities which have been highly requested by the our users."

The ability to export a 3D model in the industry standard X3D format opens the door to many interesting applications. For example, 3D conversions can be imported into other 3D modeling programs, modified, enhanced, shared, and sold.

3Defy, Inc is a software development company which specializes in 2D to 3D conversion software. 3Defy runs directly in the web browser via Adobe Flash, and doesn't require any additional downloads. The 2D to 3D conversion tools are available for free. The new exports service is priced at $4.99 per 3D model export.
