Las Vegas, NV, September 11, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- A little known company in the province of Saskatchewan has been providing customers around the globe with high quality organic and natural quinoa for years, and as their ingenuity continues to grow, so too does their following. In recent years, Northern Quinoa Corporation has added quinoa spaghetti, quinoa elbows, quinoa spirals, and quinoa flour to their NorQuin branded line-up. Yet, this year they have blazed a new trail with their latest development, Organic Quick Quinoa Powder.
Taking the gluten-free community by storm, Quick Quinoa Powder is a versatile rapid-cook powder that can be enjoyed alone as a hot breakfast drink or cereal; as a dairy replacement in fruit shakes and thickening soups; or as a primary ingredient in recipes like the granola or gluten-free wraps that follow.
As a special introductory promotion to their Quick Quinoa Powder, Northern Quinoa Corporation is giving away a gift basket of their products via the informational website Go Dairy Free. The prize will include one pound of the Extra-Fine Organic Quick Quinoa Powder, in addition to several other NorQuin brand products, from quinoa pastas to their cold-milled brown flaxseeds. To enter to win, simply sign up with a valid email for the free e-newsletter at www.GoDairyFree.org by September 17th.
All NorQuin Brand quinoa products are made from Canadian grown Golden Quinoa and are naturally vegan, gluten-free, kosher, dairy-free, and corn free. Consequently, quinoa is suitable for most food allergies, intolerances, and Celiac Disease. Plus, unlike wheat or rice, this pseudo-grain is a complete protein, containing a full set of the essential amino acids required within the human diet. Since very few plant foods can be defined as a complete protein, quinoa is often recommended for strict vegan diets.
Along with quinoa's relatively high protein content (12% - 18%), it boasts a good dose of iron, manganese, and magnesium and is considered to be an excellent natural source of fiber. The total dietary fiber of quinoa is reported to be approximately 13.3%, of which 10-11% is insoluble dietary fiber.
Northern Quinoa Corporation is located in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, Canada, but they ship directly to customers worldwide. All products, including the Quick Quinoa Powder, can be purchased directly via the Northern Quinoa Corporation website, www.quinoa.com.

½ c. Unsweetened Fine Coconut
½ c. Dried Sour Cherries
2 Tbsp Canola Oil
3 Tbsp Brown Sugar

Put the almonds in a food processor and pulse for a coarse grind and then add remainder of ingredients and mix together briefly – being careful not to over mix into a paste. Put into a 9 x 5 inch baking dish and place in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes, but stir the mixture when it has been in the oven for 25 minutes and return to oven for the remainder of the time. Remove from oven, cool and store in a Ziploc bag in the fridge.
1 cup Norquin Quick Quinoa Powder. Extra-Fine, Organic
1 1/8 cup Water
1 tbsp Egg Replacement Powder
1 tbsp Baking Powder (gluten free)
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Pepper
Add all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. If the mixture cannot be poured into a pan then add a tablespoon of water at a time until the consistency becomes that of a thick shake.
Heat a large frying pan on medium and coat evenly with canola oil. Pour a small amount of the Quinoa batter into the pan and working quickly, spread it thinly across the entire bottom surface. When bubbles start to emerge on the surface of the Quinoa batter, gently turn over and brown the other side for approximately 2 or 3 minutes. Remove from pan and lay on the surface of a dinner plate. Can be made in advance. Double or triple the recipe and freeze. Fill with your favorite vegetarian/vegan filling or with the recipe below.
