The First Tee of the Triangle Receives $17,500 Grant from PwC’s Raleigh Office

Local Youth Development Organization Receives Grant From the PwC Charitable Foundation to Support Youth Programs.

Raleigh, NC, September 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The First Tee of the Triangle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to impacting the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf, has announced that it received a $17,500 grant from the PwC Charitable Foundation. The money will support the organization’s sustainability, provide funding for yearly participant opportunities and scholarships, and will assist in the development of a financial literacy program for local youth.

Additionally, partners and staff from PwC’s Raleigh office will lead financial literacy courses for First Tee youth focused on valuable life skills, such as money management, planning, saving and investing. At the conclusion of the program, PwC will select participants from The First Tee of the Triangle to be their special guests at the Men’s and Women’s US Open in Pinehurst, N.C., in June 2014.

In further support of The First Tee’s mission, the PwC Charitable Foundation will award an additional $12,500 grant at the conclusion of this fall’s PwC Carolinas staff volunteer competition. The grant will be awarded to the local The First Tee chapter associated with the winning PwC Carolinas office.

“We are very grateful to PwC Carolinas for their support of our life skills program for Triangle youth,” said Dick Baker, executive director of The First Tee of the Triangle. “This exciting new partnership not only aligns perfectly with The First Tee’s nine core values, but also creates new community volunteer opportunities for PwC employees in the Triangle. The PwC financial literacy course is a timely and relevant addition to our offerings and will benefit our participants as we better equip them for success in life.”

“We are very excited to provide this grant from the PwC Charitable Foundation to The First Tee of the Triangle. PwC is dedicated to supporting financial literacy among Triangle youth through our Earn Your Future efforts, and we look forward to working with The First Tee of the Triangle, whose focus on youth education aligns with our national and market goals," said Laura Robinette, managing partner of PwC's Raleigh office. "PwC has a deep commitment to the Triangle area, and we are proud to further our dedication to our community by providing both volunteer and financial support to The First Tee. We look forward to supporting the Triangle chapter throughout the year and to building a lasting connection between the chapter and our Raleigh office."
