U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Awards $1.5 Million Immunization Contract to SciMetrika

Population Health Consulting Firm Selected to Maintain and Enhance State Immunization Grant Management eGrATIS System.

Durham, NC, September 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- SciMetrika, LLC, a population health consulting firm, has announced that the company has been awarded a 36-month, $1.5 million contract by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to maintain and enhance the Immunization Electronic Grant Application Tracking Information System (eGrATIS). eGrATIS is operated out of the Immunization Services Division (ISD) within the Office of Infectious Diseases (OID), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD).

In 2008, ISD developed eGrATIS to manage the application and award process for local health departments and other organizations who were applying for immunization program grants. These grants help ensure that the immunization programs these entities implement are effective, which in turn protects those communities from a broad range of easily preventable diseases.

Today, eGrATIS includes seven modules, most of which require modifications or enhancements to make them even easier to use and manage, because if the system does not operate efficiently, it could lead to delays that reduce the effectiveness of critical immunization programs.

Under the terms of the contract, SciMetrika will provide a team of multidisciplinary health information technology professionals to efficiently implement logical and secure system changes in synch with the grant and cooperative agreement award cycle. SciMetrika is partnering with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), who originally built the tool. Work on the eGrATIS project began Aug. 26 and will continue over the next three years.

Quotes:
“We believe an improved and highly visible eGrATIS will establish a high-level benchmark for other CDC programs to learn from and build upon,” said John Dorries, senior director of SciMetrika’s Program Management Office and the project’s director. “As the agency looks to consolidate several grants management systems, it is critical to keep response times rapid and ensure the system stays intuitive.”

“At SciMetrika, we appreciate how important it is to be able to bring the necessary population health perspective to technology solutions,” said SciMetrika CEO Dr. Jean Orelien. “We are excited to work with the CDC on this innovative program to maintain and enhance eGrATIS.”
