Hickory, NC, October 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina at the Hickory Metro Convention Center, the Extravaganza is the only woodworking show of its kind in North Carolina. Free admission, parking, demos and classes, locally grown apples, which were enjoyed by people from over fifteen states last year, free registration for door prizes and much, much more. They will be giving away several door prizes with the grand prize being a $1,250 gift certificate. Come in and register to win a free truck that will be given away in 2014. Read on to find out more about some of the classes and demos that will be on hand.

Last year there were nearly five thousand woodworkers in attendance and this year is looking as if the show will exceed that number. Over forty-five vendors represented from companies like Powermatic, Jet, Porter-Cable, DeWalt, SawStop, Bosch, Carter, Bessey, Rikon, Odie’s oil, and more.

Come check out or participate in the 12th Annual Woodcarving Competition and Show – Sponsored by: Catawba Valley Woodcarvers Association. Some of the free classes & demos include: Learn-To-Turn in the 10 lathe mobile classroom with the Carolina Mountain Woodturners. Other special turning demos will be done by Nick Cook, Morris Schlesinger and others. Come watch an artist carve using nothing but a chainsaw. Ben Hobbs will be on hand teaching traditional woodworking methods and how to make cabriole legs.

If you have wanted to get into woodworking, there will be several local clubs on hand for you to connect with, like the folks from NCwoodworker.net, Carolina Mountain Woodturners, NC Woodturners, Catawba Valley Woodcarvers, Western Piedmont Woodcrafters, and more. Bring the kids out and let them learn to turn, come alone or with friends, but don’t miss this “must see” event. After all, it’s free.
