Denver, CO, October 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Can you spell “friendly competition?” Register your team today to compete against other Denver area companies and organizations in the 6th Annual Tattered Cover Downtown Spelling Bee to benefit The Learning Source (www.thelearningsource.org). The event takes place on Friday, Oct. 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store Historic LoDo, 16th and Wynkoop Streets in Downtown Denver.

Who will take home the traveling trophy this year? Teams of three adults will compete for prizes by correctly spelling a series of words from Merriam Webster’s Third International Dictionary. CBS4 Meteorologist Dave Aguilera will serve as emcee for the event.

Event entry fees/team sponsorships begin at $500 for a team which includes lunch and a gift bag for all team members. Money raised from the event will benefit the adult and family literacy programs offered through The Learning Source. The nonprofit organization has trained nearly 100,000 students since 1964. “There is no cost to be a spectator at the Spelling Bee so we invite everyone to stop by during their lunch break to watch the fun,” says Joshua Evans, executive director of The Learning Source.

Established in 1964, The Learning Source is located at 455 S. Pierce in Lakewood and operates 29 literacy programs at 23 locations throughout the Denver metro area.
