(n+1) designstudio Augments UFC’s Reality with New Virtual Set for Latin American Studio Broadcasts

Creative House Partners with Ultimate Fighting Championship® to Design Dynamic, Virtual Set for Commentator Show

Durham, NC, October 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- (n+1) designstudio, a creative services firm providing motion graphic design and conceptual branding solutions for the sports and entertainment industries, has partnered with Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC) to design a virtual set for its Latin American broadcasts.

The virtual set launched during the UFC 165 Light Heavyweight Title Fight on Sept. 21.

The virtual set will next be featured Wednesday, Oct. 9 during the UFC Fight Night between Demian Maia and Jake Shields. (n+1) designstudio created the set to expand the capabilities of UFC’s commentator show and broadcast from KCET studios in Burbank, C.A. Optimized in a real-time, rendering environment, the new virtual set provides the commentators the appearance of being on location in an expansive studio overlooking the fight arena and conveys parallax as the camera moves. In addition, augmented reality elements such as four multi-purpose video display monitors that border the UFC logo, a dynamic ticker and interchangeable fighter displays enhance the virtual environment.

Quotes:
“The realism we create follows the techniques of next-generation video games. Rather than building with standard shapes, we are creating detailed and realistic texture maps that you'd find in high-end games," said Michael Guastaferro, art director for (n+1) designstudio. “Producers for UFC’s broadcast partners in Latin America are now able to cross-shoot and cut cameras, providing a dramatic and versatile component to the show that contributes to the high-paced intensity and atmosphere of sports coverage.”
