Chef & Sommelier, Official Partner of the World Team Blind Taste Testing Championship

Chef & Sommelier, official partner of the World Blind Taste Testing Championship, congratulates the Belgian team, big winner of the 2013 contest. Organised by the French wine magazine, Revue du Vin de France, the blind taste testing was conducted in Chef&Sommelier Arom’Up glasses and the wines were decanted in its Explore carafes.

Arques, France, October 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- This past October 12, 2013, the first ever World Team Blind Taste Testing Championship took place in the Pessac Leognan vineyards of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion in the Bordeaux region. Organized by the French wine magazine, Revue du Vin de France, the championship attracted teams from 16 different countries from around the world. The teams were composed of four wine tasters, and each taster attempted to identify twelve different wines served up in Chef & Sommelier Arom’Up wine tasting glasses. After each taste test, the teams were questioned on the name of the primary varietal, the A.O.C., the official French designation which guarantees the area from which a wine comes, the method by which and the grapes with which it is mad, the vintner, the cuvee, and the year. The team with the greatest number of correct answers took the World Championship.

For this wine tasting, Revue du Vin de France chose Chef & Sommelier’s Arom’Up lines of wine tasting glasses for their specific characteristics: in fact, these exceptional glasses are designed to highlight either a wine’s fruity notes for the Arom’Up Fruity line or the woody aromas that come from a wine’s barrel aging for the Oaky line of Arom’Up glasses. The contestants were also able to admire the incomparable deep colors of these prestigious wines from international vineyards thanks to the technical properties of Kwarx®, Chef & Sommelier’s innovative material with absolute transparency: the glass walls seem to fade away before its contents. Chef & Sommelier brings this same level of oenological expertise and know-how to its wine decanters. To wit, the selection of Chef & Sommelier’s Explore line to decant the wines tasted.

At the conclusion of this test, it is the team from Belgium composed of Philippe Mesdom, Philippe Ketelslegers, Serge Coddens and Eric Derenne, who took the championship title with a seven point lead over Denmark and England who finished second and third respectively. Mark your calendars for 2014: there will be a second edition but in another city in France.
