McGough Academy of Irish Dance Holds Fundraiser for Gill Family

Yonkers, NY, November 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The McGough Academy of Irish Dance hosted their First Annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26, 2013. The Halloween Party was designed as a fundraiser for Lindsay Gill, a local Woodlawn teen who was struck by a car several weeks ago while attending a local Fall Festival. The family immigrated from Ireland to the USA this past summer.

In an effort to assist this local family during their time of need while dealing with such a tragic accident, Meagan McGough organized her dancing school and decided to host this fundraiser to assist the Gill family with their extensive medical expenses. Along with the assistance of the McGough Academy teachers: Megan DiBiase (TCRG), Aishling O’Reilly and Roisin Carlin, Ms. McGough was able to host a party for 75 students and 35 parents at their main dancing studio in Yonkers, New York. Most notably, Yonkers Councilman Dennis Shepherd was able to attend the fundraiser and offered his support for the cause. John McLoughlin of Celtic Craftworks donated the grand raffle prize, which raised over $400.00 for the family. Sheila Conway of Conway Catering donated the food and RJ Puma of Artuso’s Bakery donated the desserts to assist the McGough Academy in overhead costs to run the event.

As a result of a supportive Woodlawn/Yonkers community, The McGough Academy far exceeded their original fundraising target and raised over $2,000.00 for the Gill family throughout the evening.
