Career Step Releases Expert Interviews and Panel Discussion Videos on the State of the Medical Transcription Industry

Career Step has released several new videos featuring experts from large medical transcription employers and AHDI discussing the medical transcription industry. The videos were filmed in one-on-one interviews and a panel discussion at the 2013 AHDI convention in late July.

Provo, UT, November 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Career Step, an online school offering career-focused education, has released several new videos featuring experts from large medical transcription employers M*Modal, Nuance Healthcare Solutions, and Amphion Medical Solutions as well as the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) discussing the medical transcription industry. The videos were filmed in one-on-one interviews and a panel discussion at the 2013 AHDI convention in late July.

“We share our perspective of the medical transcription industry with our students every day, and in the last few months we have put out a number of resources that highlight the need we are seeing for medical transcriptionists,” said Career Step Vice President of Academics Jerolyn Robertson. “We hosted this discussion because we wanted to capture what others are seeing. These new videos provide the opportunity to hear from other industry experts, including representatives from the industry association and the largest employers in the space.”

There are seven new Career Step videos: the hour-long panel discussion, a twelve-minute montage of interview questions, and five shorter videos featuring individual questions. Experts discuss the current need for medical transcriptionists—including a coming shortage of well-trained professionals—how medical transcriptionists can meet industry challenges, and what these professionals can do to stay up to date in the changing world of healthcare.

Career Step has been educating medical transcriptionists for over 20 years, and was particularly suited to lead this discussion as one of the most employer-trusted education providers in the industry. Panel representatives included Susan Dooley, MHA, CMT, AHDI-F, President-Elect of AHDI and member of the AHDI National Leadership Board; Linda Brady, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of AHDI; Shaw Reitkerk, Vice President of North American Operations at M*Modal; Heather Steinfeld, Senior Director of US Transcription Operations at Nuance Healthcare Solutions; Jane Bates, RHIA, Vice President of Human Resources at Amphion Medical Solutions; and Ryan Ewer, Vice President of Enrollments and Marketing at Career Step.

"While we are encouraged by the high demand for medical transcriptionists that we are seeing, we hosted this panel discussion and expert interviews to provide an honest and candid look at the state of the industry," said Career Step Vice President of Enrollments and Marketing Ryan Ewer. "The individuals who joined us provided some excellent insight into the current medical transcription environment as well as what they expect to see in the future, and we wanted to make this information available to everyone."
