The Sunglass Fix Shows Commitment to Its Community, Sponsors Turtle Conservation Project

Australian-based sunglass repair company helps raise funds to save turtles from plastic debris in ocean.

Ocean Shores, Australia, November 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Demonstrating its commitment to its community and the environment, The Sunglass Fix showed its support for the Turtle Conservation Project by sponsoring a fundraiser.

Held on 13th October, the fundraiser took place at Mandala Organic Arts Cafe in Mermaid Beach, QLD and featured the work of local and international artists who exhibited turtle themed work and donated 50% of the proceeds from purchases to Ballina’s Australian Sea Bird Rescue. Pieces were on display by Wyland, Nicola Dennis, Howie Cooke, John Dahlsen, Peter Joli, Pagat, Gaia El Aon, Samantha Walsh, Jhana Bowen, Cath Grant, and Steve Webb as well as the work of 50 contestants in a Kids’ Colouring-In-Competition. The event also included six live musical acts and four presentations from turtle and marine conservation experts, including a screening of a multi-award winning educational documentary called “Bag It.”

The Sunglass Fix sponsored the event with its purchase of AU$600 worth of art for its office walls. Lainie Anderson, The Sunglass Fix Marketing Director, explained, “We purchased art for our walls in support of reducing the amount of plastic that is tossed away and which ultimately ends up in our oceans, killing our sea life-- especially turtles.” She noted that customers and staff have all been extremely supportive of the company’s efforts to sponsor the project. “It will bring awareness to the Turtle Conservation Project and it’s a good way to get our company’s name out there,” she said. “This is a great cause to be involved in.”
