Shoreby Hill Property Second Highest Sale in Jamestown YTD

Newport, RI, November 14, 2013 --( Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty announced the sale of 11 Alden Road in Jamestown, Rhode Island. This Colonial Revival in the Shoreby Hill Historic District, overlooking the harbor and Naragansett Bay, sold for $2,955,000. This reflects the second highest price for a residential sale in Jamestown this year to date. Sales associate Kate Greenman of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller, and Gloria Kurz of Mansions & Manors represented the buyer.

The Shoreby Hill centerpiece shingle-style home was built in 1899 by Chapman and Wright for James Taussig, one of the founders of the Jamestown Land Company. The residence features three fireplaces, period detail, and a spacious yard. A wide porch on the east overlooks The Green and The Meadow, Shoreby Hill’s open-space sweeping lawns and the water beyond.

Paul Leys, owner/broker of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty said “This transaction shows the continuation of what has been a tremendous revival for high-end real estate in Rhode Island. In the past two years, Aquidneck Island has seen more than 40 properties sold for over $2 million.”
