Join Artreach, home of The Second Step Players, in celebrating the upcoming holiday show, All For Your Delight, directed by returning collaborator Kato McNickle. McNickle describes the show as “An evening designed to dazzle the eyes and tickle the ear.” This original holiday-inspired spectacle will feature Second Step’s signature sketch comedy and peppers in offerings composed expressly for this event by playwrights from across New England and New York. This show is about giving and receiving and will be one that both children and adults will enjoy. This show will feature puppets created by Dan Potter, the founder and creator of The Mystic Paper Beasts, as well as sketch comedies, “Dysfunction Junction” skits, spoken word, and music. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

For the funny-bone, the evening boasts several servings of Second Step Players signature comedy. Blunder the Reindeer has had one too many on Christmas Eve and attempts to dash the hopes of Spitter, a young reindeer who dreams of pulling Santa’s Sleigh. In another offering, Magic the Snowman prepares the perfect Christmas, just like in the movies. And there is a return to the popular destination, Dysfunction Junction, where they are rehearsing for the town’s annual holiday pageant. The show will also feature spoken-word pieces created by Second Step Players company members and playwrights from New England and New York, with some of the pieces featuring puppets and masks.

All For Your Delight is set for December 18, 19, 20, and 21, 2013 from 7:30 pm EDT – 8:45 pm EDT, with a fifteen minute intermission. The show will be performed at the Donald Oat Theatre, which is located at 62 Broadway in Norwich, CT.

Don’t wait to get your tickets, last year’s holiday show sold out all four nights. Ticketing options include $10 general admission, $20 seats at the front of the house (first and second rows of the theater), and $30 V.I.P tickets. V.I.P. will include a meet and greet with performers before or after the show and a holiday gift bag. To purchase tickets please visit https://www.artful.ly/store/events/2035.

The evening will feature a collaborative mix of new work created by Connecticut artists, Massachusetts and New York playwrights, and several poets. With this event, Artreach aims to both raise money for its programs and to bring together the audience and the performers for a joyful experience to help chase away the winter blues at a time of year when many people may not have a strong support system of family and friends. Artreach, Inc. Executive Director Becca Atkins stated, “Everyone has enjoyed Kato’s creative process, from the writing classes in the early stages, to the theater games for increasing body awareness, to the rehearsals that began in October. The show is a delightful mash-up of pieces – funny, poignant, visually stimulating – I can’t wait for people to experience it.”
