Gold Crest Care Center’s Kindness Week Ends with Positive Messages for All

Bronx-Based Nursing Home Gold Crest Care Center Commemorated World Kindness Week by Encouraging the Community to Perform Acts of Kindness

Bronx, NY, November 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- World Kindness Week has come to an end. Running from the 11th through the 17th of November, it was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a group of nation kindness NGOs. Many countries like Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria, UK, India, Italy, United Arab Emirates and Singapore officially observe the week. There were many events celebrated, such as the Global Flashmob, which was held in 15 countries and 33 cities with images of the event making the big screens in New York City. Even though it is not a national holiday or anything of the sort, it is important to take the time to pause and think about kindness.

With news reporting being so negative on a daily basis, it is hard to stay positive or believe there is any kindness left in the world. But in reality there are kind people and a lot of kindness. The Giving USA 2013 report, released in July, reported that total charitable giving in 2012 increased to $316.23 billion. According to the report, the specific increases are:

3.5% increase in total estimated U.S. charitable giving

3.9% increase in giving by individuals

4.4% increase in giving by foundations

12.2% increase in giving by corporations

“At Gold Crest Care Center, we encourage those around us to commit acts of kindness on a daily basis. The more positivity we send out into the world, the better. Kind acts have a profound effect and can make the difference between a good day and a bad day,” said Mark Salamon, Administrator at Gold Crest Care Center.
