Wikiparenting.com Launches; Gives “Power to the Parents”

Wikiparenting.com launches on the world wide web. It gives choices and an interactive forum for parents to share ideas and share knowledge on any topic they wish having to do with pregnancy, parenting or children of any age.

Eau Claire, WI, September 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Wikiparenting.com proves a useful and ready web site for parents and families wishing to gather information with the click of a mouse on all subjects and concepts relating to children and pregnancy.

The idea that there could be a better way to handle the call of parents looking for information and opinions occurred to Tribal Internet Projects last year. Although many sites exist showcasing pregnancy and parenting, there isn’t one that gives parents complete control in what and how subjects are covered. Wikiparenting.com utilizes the aspect of wiki: parents sharing their own personal philosophies and techniques in an editable interactive form.

"Our interest was in creating a site that gives parents complete control over information and content," said Tribal Internet Projects co-founder and leader of development, Walter Vergeer. "With other Tribal websites it became evident that parents really want to share their methods, successes and accomplishments. We thought, what better than to let them provide content to a site and share the information that they’ve acquired and believe in."

Anyone can add subjects to the database, or add content to already existing articles. Users can also correct errors that they find or search the database for subjects they would like to know about. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Add it to a list of “wanted articles” for someone to write about. Wikiparenting.com is easily searchable by category, phase or alphabetically for various topics

Says site administrator Yvette Cargill. “As a mother, I am elated to work on a project that I find so worthwhile and helpful to parents. There’s satisfaction knowing that the potential is here on the internet for parents, caregivers and parents-to-be to help each other by providing new information or by validating a concept or concern. ”

Key features of Wikiparenting.com include:
Search: As mentioned, user friendly searches by phase/chronology, category or alphabet.

User interaction: Any user can submit articles or information to be viewable to the public. Users can discuss or watch articles for updates or discussion, keep track of individual contributions or contributions by favorite users and upload image and sound files to articles.

Free to the public: All information is free and open to the public. Anyone can utilize and add to the site, parent or not.
