After Thanksgiving, the Giving Continues - the Soul Catchers to Donate Free Family Portraits

1,000s line up when South Floridian professional photographers come together to offer family portraits for the struggling and poor.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, November 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On December 7th, the South Florida professional photographers group known as The Soul Catchers (TheSoulCatchers.org) will be celebrating “Help-Portrait” in Fort Lauderdale for the third year. The event will be hosted at The Salvation Army of Fort Lauderdale located at 100 S.W. 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

The event is based on the simple principle of finding someone in need, taking a professional portrait, printing it, and giving it to them. The portraits can be of great significance for someone who does not have the resources to use the services of a professional photographer and in many cases, by projecting a better image of the person portrayed, can instill that last nudge of self-esteem needed to get them going.

Huba Rostonics, founder of The Soul Catchers explains: “We are very grateful to be able to see some of these stories first-hand. You see good people at heart, walking in with a cloud of worries above their head, and suddenly, when you show them their picture they smile. I have shot some family’s first portrait ever, seen families who have lost all their old pictures in a disaster, women victims of domestic abuse, and people who have really been hit by the economy, losing their homes.”

He continues: “This event is all about hope, and this year, our partner, The Salvation Army of Fort Lauderdale, has been actively signing-up attendees for this year’s event. The list now exceeds 1,000 families lining up for portraits.”

The members of The Soul Catchers provide the equipment and the talent necessary to make this initiative possible, printing and other resources are a product of donations from other local partners like Dale Laboratories, Badia Spices, JDS Uniphase’s Latin American office, Joe’s Stone Crab, Southtrend Eventprinters.com, the American Society of Media Photographers, the Florida Guild of Professional Photographers, Phocaccia Productions, Lipstick Ammo and Drysteam Cleaning and Restoration.
